No. 11 NORTH CAROLINA 70, No. 5 STANFORD 54

Latifah Coleman scored 19 points and Xylina McDaniel added 15 to help North Carolina upset Stanford in an opening-round game of the Rainbow Wahine Shootout.

Stephanie Mavunga added 10 and eight rebounds for the Tar Heels (5-0), who avenged a nine-point loss to the Cardinal (3-2) in the Elite Eight round of the NCAA tournament last April.

Coleman, a senior guard, also had six rebounds and six assists. She made 7 of her 12 shots from the field, including 4 of 6 on 3-pointers, and scored 14 of her points in the second half.

North Carolina shot 61 percent (17 of 28) from the field in the second half.

Lili Thompson scored 11 of her 15 points in the second half to lead Stanford, which shot just 31 percent (17 of 55) from the field for the game.

NO. 2 WISCONSIN 69, OKLAHOMA 56

PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas — Tournament MVP Frank Kaminsky scored 17 points to lead five Wisconsin players in double figures, Duje Dukan and Traevon Jackson each added 13 and the second-ranked Badgers beat Oklahoma 69-56 on Friday to win the Battle 4 Atlantis championship.

Sam Dekker scored 11 points and Nigel Hayes finished with 10 for Wisconsin (7-0), which trailed by one late in the first half before peeling off 10 straight points and taking the lead for good.

Kaminsky had eight rebounds and Jackson finished with eight assists for the Badgers.

NO. 5 NORTH CAROLINA 75, NO. 18 FLORIDA 64

PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas — Kennedy Meeks scored 18 points and tied a career high with 13 rebounds, Marcus Paige added 16 points and North Carolina built a big early lead and beat Florida in the fifth-place game at the Battle 4 Atlantis.

Justin Jackson had 12 points for the Tar Heels (5-1), who scored the first 12 points. J.P. Tokoto and Brice Johnson added 10 apiece for North Carolina.

Kasey Hill led all scorers with 20 points and Michael Frazier II added 17 for the Gators (3-3), who struggled again offensively. Florida shot 33 percent from the field, 22 percent from 3-point range and still hasn’t reached the 70-point mark in any game this season.

NO. 10 GONZAGA 73, ST. JOHN’S 66

NEW YORK — Domantas Sabonis had 14 points and eight rebounds to help Gonzaga beat St. John’s in the NIT Season Tip-Off championship game.

The 6-foot-10 Sabonis, the son of former NBA center Arvydas Sabonis, was 6 for 6 from the field.

Gary Bell Jr. added 13 points and seven rebounds for the Bulldogs (6-0).

Phil Greene IV led St. John’s (4-1) with 20 points.

NO. 8 VIRGINIA 64, LASALLE 56

NEW YORK — Malcolm Brogdon scored a career-high 20 points to lead Virginia past LaSalle in the Barclays Center Classic semifinals.

Anthony Gill added 16 for Virginia, which improved to 6-0 for the first time since the 2004-05 season. The Cavaliers haven’t allowed an opponent to score more than 55 points this season. The Cavaliers led wire-to-wire. Virginia opened the game with a 13-2 run in the first 7:57, and had a 37-19 advantage at halftime.

Jordan Price had 20 for LaSalle (4-1).

Virginia will play Rutgers, a 68-65 winner over Vanderbilt, in the final.

NO. 11 KANSAS 82, TENNESSEE 67

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — Perry Ellis scored 24 points, Cliff Alexander added 16 and Kansas beat Tennessee in an Orlando Classic semifinal.

Frank Mason III had 11 points and seven assists for Kansas (4-1). The Jayhawks will face No. 20 Michigan State in the championship game Sunday.

Josh Richardson led Tennessee (2-2) with 16 points, and Kevin Punter had 14.

NO. 20 MICHIGAN ST. 79, MARQUETTE 68

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — Denzel Valentine had a career-high 25 points and Michigan State beat Marquette in the Orlando Classic semifinals.

Travis Trice added 19 points for Michigan State (5-1).

Duane Wilson led Marquette (3-3) with 15 points. The Golden Eagles could get no closer than six points over the game’s final three minutes.

Marquette’s Matt Carlino, coming off a tournament record 38 points in Thursday’s 72-70 victory over Georgia Tech, had 14 points, seven rebounds and four assists.

NO. 16 OHIO ST. 73, JAMES MADISON 56

COLUMBUS, Ohio — D’Angelo Russell scored 14 points, Sam Thompson had 13 and Ohio State got big contributions from its big men in beating James Madison.

Starting center Amir Williams had seven points and nine rebounds, and backups Trey McDonald and Anthony Lee had eight points each.

Playing his first game after a five-game suspension, Andre Nation had 15 points for James Madison (4-2).

NO. 17 MIAMI 87, SOUTH ALABAMA 75

CORAL GABLES, Fla. — Sheldon McClellan had 17 points and Miami scored the first 23 points in an easy victory over South Alabama.

Manu Lecomte led the strong start with two 3-pointers and Ja’quan Newton’s jumper with 11:35 left ended the surge for the Hurricanes (7-0).

Ken Williams had 16 points for South Alabama (1-3).

MISSISSIPPI 75, NO. 23 CREIGHTON 68

NICEVILLE, Fla. — Jarvis Summers scored 23 points and Mississippi closed with a 12-3 run to beat Creighton in the Emerald Coast Classic.

Summers was 6 of 14 from the field and made 9 of 10 free throws for the Rebels (4-1).

LaDarius White scored 16 of his 18 points in the second half, and Martavious Newby had all nine of his points in the final 2 minutes.

Isaiah Zierden led Creighton (5-1) with 18 points.

NO. 25 ARKANSAS 89, NORTH TEXAS 73

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Michael Qualls scored a career-high 22 points and Arkansas improved to 5-0 for the first time since 2006 with a victory over North Texas.

The Razorbacks trailed 55-54 midway through the second half before pulling away for their second straight win since being ranked for the first time since November 2007.

T.J. Taylor led the Mean Green (4-2) with 16 points.
